Until 2025, he was a Trustee at Stapleford Granary.

David is a former BBC and newspaper journalist who was also Managing Editor of BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

He also runs community websites for Great and Little Shelford.​

He chairs the Little Shelford Local History Society.

David is a former Chair of Little Shelford Parish Council.
